5 Stars works like a charm
I bought this product to back up our old PC knowing that it will die one of these days – perhaps before we have a chance to replace it with a new MAC. So I had to buy the Y cable with it so that it had enough power and transfer speed. It worked fine. We do backups only on occasion, so this hard drive is not getting a workout too often.

This is actually our second WD portable HD purchase. We had a MyBook for a long time, but the portability was an issue. Transporting this one is so easy – just the very tiny drive itself and a short USB cord – it slides into a laptop bag (or a purse!) easily. Reliability has been great and the read/write speed is very fast.

I bought a My Passport several months ago and have been thrilled, and this purchase was for my husband because I’m not good at sharing mine!

I bought this hard drive to backup my new MacBook. It couldn’t have been easier. I attached the drive via the USB port. Reformatted the drive so it would talk with my Mac. Fired up the Time Machine program and let her rip. No fuss, no muss, works just great.

5 Stars Quite portable external hard drive
I purchased the Western Digital 250GB hard drive solely to store pictures that had begun to over extend my laptops. Simply put, this hard drive is extremely portable (about the size of a small book), and extremely easy to use. You literally plug in the USB and start transferring the items from your PC to the hard drive. The software is already stored within the hard drive so it doesn’t come with any disks to load or anything to configure. Also might want to point out it’s not really 250GB, more like 240 something because of the software already stored on the device.

The only downside I can see with this hard drive is that the outside is a glossy color, so over time I imagine it would easily be scratched.

I would recommend this item to laptop owners who travel a lot or photographers who tend to run out of room to store their photos.
